RJ ANDREW - BLACK RIVER VINYL
UNDERGROUND LOVERS
Regular price
$35.00 AUD
Richard Andrew is probably best known as the 'whirlwind of arms' behind the drum kit for bands including Underground Lovers and formerly Black Cab, Crow and Registered Nurse.
This album was a labour of love and was written and recorded during one of the seemingly endless lockdowns in Victoria, Australia. The lockdown did however afford Richard the time to truly explore the idea of playing against type (being a loud rock and roll drummer) and writing an album of what he likes to describe as 'cinematic ballads'.
He is also wildly fortunate in owning a high end analogue recording studio and so the album was recorded entirely to 2" tape on his glorious Ampex 24 track tape machine. This gave the album a sonic depth and warmth that particularly shines through on the vinyl version of Black River.
And to top it all off - there are purposely no drums on the album. Yikes!
A lot of thought also went into the track order for the album so that it flows like a story and on the vinyl version a number of tracks cross fade into the next giving the album the feeling of a journey.
It is with a real sense of pride that Black River is being released into the world and we hope that you enjoy it as much as Richard enjoyed making it.
