Giallo" is the fourth in a series of five double vinyl releases that brings together some of Ennio Morricone's greatest soundtracks. Each collection focuses on a different genre of film, together they allow listeners to rediscover the unmatched genius of the greatest film composer of all time. The maestro. This Collection was announced before Ennio Morricone passed away on July 6, 2020.

When one thinks of Italian pulp cinema of the 1960s, the spaghetti western genre comes to mind. However, around the same time, Italy was responsible for another cinematic exploitation that was equally compelling but less recognised. Giallo ... Giallo, meaning "yellow", is the Italian term for crime fiction, it was named after the bright yellow colours of the early pulp fiction paperbacks. Film audiences adopted it as the name for a specific Italian sub-genre of thriller cinema that flourished in the 1970s - just as the spaghetti western movement was waning.
"Giallo" is hard to define, but it's essentially an Italian crime film that draws from a pool of common themes: stylised murders, amateur detectives, evil glamor, psychological crimes, enigmatic titles, and all of these themes are backed by creepily atmospheric Ennio Morricone musical scores. Ennio Morricone, who began 70 years ago as an arranger for the play "Mamma Bianca," is the master of scores and soundtracks. Morricone has always been a huge influence for musicians like Hans Zimmer, Danger Mouse, Muse, Metallica and many others. He was one of the most successful composers of all time, selling over 70 million records and receiving dozens of awards
