ETTA JAMES - AT LAST: 19 GREATEST HITS VINYL

“19 Greatest Hits At Last” by Etta James is a sweeping compilation that gathers together many of the artist’s most beloved tracks, offering both long-time fans and newcomers a vivid snapshot of her power and range. Spanning early R&B torch songs, declarative blues, and soul ballads, the collection showcases James at her finest—moving effortlessly between heartbreak, longing, defiance, and sheer vocal grandeur. Numbers like “At Last,” “Something’s Got a Hold On Me,” and “Seven Day Fool” highlight her capacity to blend raw emotion with polished performance, while deeper cuts afford listeners a fuller sense of the depth in her catalogue.

Released in 2013, this greatest-hits set serves as both a tribute and an entry point. The 19 tracks have been chosen to reflect the arc of James’s career, pulling from different eras and styles. Production is clean and respectful of the originals, preserving the warmth of the arrangements and letting James’s voice remain front and centre. For record store visitors, this album is a must-own: a rich, vibrant compilation that exemplifies why Etta James remains one of soul and blues’ most resonant figures.
