A cool collection of early work by Irma Thomas – some of the best tracks from her initial years on the Crescent City scene! Most of the numbers were written by Allen Toussaint, with a sound that certainly indicates his influence – and Irma's vocals have a crackling quality that's pretty darn great, even amidst some of the fuller sweetness of the backings. The album's a bit short on notes, but has plenty to offer in the way of music – and titles include "Two Winters Long", "Somebody Told You", "Cry On", "Gone", "Look Up", "I Done Got Over It", "It's Raining", and "Ruler Of My Heart"
